Welcome to the Global Information Exchange System (GIES) foreseen under the 2009 FAO Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (PSMA).

The GIES enables Parties to cooperate and exchange information on port denials, inspection results and flag State actions with relevant States, FAO, other international organizations and regional fisheries management organizations.

The GIES was launched 2021, marking the start of the Pilot Phase, which aims at compiling feedback from the Parties to the Agreement on any improvements and changes to be made to the system During this pilot phase, access to the system is limited only to Parties to the Agreement, who can visualize all information submitted into the system by any Party. In preparation for the full operationalization of the system, subsequent versions will be released during the Pilot phase including further improvements.

The GIES currently contains the following features:

  • Port entry/use denials
  • Withdrawal of denials
  • Port inspections

To start using the GIES, please click the "Login" button in the sidebar, then enter your credentials (Parties’ national competent authorities can request credentials at PSMA-GIES@fao.org).

As this is a pilot phase, all users are encouraged to report any feedback (issues, questions, feature requests…) at the following email address: PSMA-GIES@fao.org.
